Craig's 1967 Camaro Convertible Project Car

Brought back from the dead.

When purchased, this car was pretty much rust free, sitting on flat tires in a Abilene Texas field. The original 327 had been replaced with a 283 that was no longer running and the sheet metal made it apear as if the car may have been used in a demolition durby.

In total it was about a one year project.  Lots of sheet metal bumping.. Lots of Bondo/body filler and a ton of education on  painting and engine building.  Most of the work was done in a one car garage, but being in the Air Force I also had free access to a complete Auto shop and professional paint booth.  Both came in very handy.

When finished, I had punched the 283 out to 302, installed 11.5:1 pistons and street/strip solid flat tapet cam that gave it a real nice lope and great top end power.  Like any small block, not much on the bottom end, but once you got the revs up, it was screaming.  One unusual touch for a 1967 Camaro?  Hooker Side Pipes
